I met Ahmed Baba while participating in a panel debate for Abby Phillips’ CNN show, which I felt honored to be a part of. Whatever you might think about CNN in general, I have to give Abby and her wonderful producers a great deal of credit for bringing people from across the political spectrum together to hash out some of the most contentious issues of dividing Americans today.
I was drawn to Ahmed for a few reasons. Not only did he confidently and clearly state his arguments, he struck me as someone who’s interested in listening to the views of others and reconsidering his own stance. These are the voices in media who are far more interested in truth as opposed to being proven right. There is a difference between the partisan hacks who will stop at nothing to push an agenda for their side and those who allow truth to guide their arguments and worldview.
Ahmed is the founder of the bestselling Substack newsletter AhmedBaba.News and a columnist at The Independent. He documented every day of Trump’s first term and was among the first to cover Project 2025. He makes frequent appearances on MSNBC and CNN, and his work has been cited in The New York Times, The Washington Post, CBS News, Rolling Stone, and more.
