Trump Voter Wants Dems to Know His 'Vote Is Getable'

Musician Manny Martinez weighs in on where Democrats went wrong, why he voted for Trump and how his near-death experience changed his life for the better.

Sometimes we cross paths with people who have an inspiring story to tell and Manny Martinez is no exception. I decided to chat with him on Unaligned after he told me he’s one of those Trump voters who Democrats could sway if they get their act together.

But our conversation went much deeper than partisan politics. Manny opened up about how he hit rock-bottom while in the throes of alcoholism. Although he had already lost everything, including close relationships, it wasn’t until he nearly died that he felt compelled to pursue recovery. He’s been sober for years and, as New York Weekly describes, Manny’s story is “a powerful testament to human resilience.”

The challenges Manny overcame helped give birth to his alternative rock band Birth of Happiness, which is “a compelling narrative of struggle, healing, and renewal,” as New York Weekly put it. “Each track delves into the raw emotions of addiction and redemption, creating a deeply moving experience for listeners.”

Manny is just an incredible guy who really shatters the notion that Trump voters are a monolith. I hope you enjoy our conversation.
