Thanks for all of your work, Ana. I'm a conservative, but I really enjoy your stuff because it challenges me, and I trust it comes from an earnest position of wanting to look out for the people of this great country. Looking forward to seeing more!
Hey Ana, just want you to know Laura Loomer is not indicative of most of us (yeah I saw that exchange). I’ve voted for Trump 3 times. While I disagree with a number of your takes, I think you are genuine and not a grifter on areas in that we (Populist Right) agree.
You and Cenk specifically make me challenge my own views at points, which is important. Thats you two are the only serious left leaning media personalities that I think come from a place a genuineness, so I feel that I can trust what you say is a actual position that you hold, not a blob talking point. Anyway, keep up the great work. This MAGA guy is happy to support and fund your project here and TYT. Both are immensely important to the marketplace of ideas!
Don't worry! I know Loomer isn't representative of Trump supporters. I don't know why she randomly came for me today. But that doesn't matter. She's not impacting my views on anything.
Dan, agree. Some points, I scratch my head, others are different from what I feel I know. Those are best, I go back and do the research. "Did I miss something"? This is the exhilarating part of unaligned. But, when Cenk gets super passionate, I have a hard time staying 'tuned in' and appreciate Ana's even keel. Looking forward to the next one.
I think the Democrats had no choice but to ditch the working class as the identify politics people were running the show. You have to be a fairly well-off, overly-educated elite to get confused about what a woman is and the working class - the vast majority of voters - is neither.
This is off topic but my free preview ends soon and I’m poor.
Ana, I am a transgender man. I 1000% agree with your infamous tweet on “birthing person.” I hate the term. It is as stupid as it is useless.
Not all women give birth. Not all women are fertile. Many transgender men have those “””birthing organs””” removed as part of transition. As a transgender man, I do not want to be identified by organs I don’t want or have!
Anyways, I really love and respect you Ana. I’ve been a viewer since 2009 and it’s been amazing to watch you grow and mature into someone who can stand up to Cenk and keep him in line.
"Even according to George Borjas, the single most-cited anti-immigration economist, immigration doesn’t make the existing workforce worse off on average. But it does, he claims, most likely reduce wages substantially for people lacking high school degrees."
"The third point is that Borjas’s results are heavily contested — and most of the rest of the literature suggests that the effect on native workers’ wages is neutral or positive. In particular, high-quality studies that use “natural experiments” — cases where there was a big, unexpected spike in immigration — suggest that the absolute effect of immigration on native workers is neutral or positive. It’s much easier to isolate the effect on native workers in those cases than it is by trying to statistically weed out other potential causes of changes in wages. The Mariel boatlift, when Cuba unexpectedly sent 125,000 people to Florida, did not hurt employment or wages among native workers in Miami at all. A huge spike in Russian immigration to Israel in the early 1990s appeared to give existing workers a nearly 9 percent raise."
We keep hearing this year after year; Republicans are cutting social security, they’re cutting Medicare, that this is hurting everyday people.
At the end of the day, we need to accept that this is just what people are voting for and we need to stop acting like we know what’s in other people’s interest. They’re going to vote the way they feel their intuition is guiding them.
None of these parties have ever helped me out personally, so I couldn’t care less. Republicans have majorities in all 3 chambers, if they can’t or won’t do anything to help anyone, we will see another incumbency shift to the left again.
I don’t care who does it, but whatever party has a mandate given to them to enact some sweeping changes the electorate voting them in for, I hope to at least see some of that take place. There will always be some level of corruption and self-enrichment we need to contend with, but hopefully they’re seeing that they need to give a little, as well as keep a little less for themselves.
It's so funny how much I agree with David also being someone that was raised right wing and ended up left wing. That sort of experience really affects the character because it takes a lot of self reflection and honestly that's what this country is going through right now, and I'm actually excited about it
Just wanted to clarify about the renewable energy situation in Germany.
Germany is a global leader in renewable energy, and has been a pioneer in the use of environmental technologies for decades:
* In 2023, Germany generated 52.5% of its electricity from renewable sources, which is above the global average of 39%. Germany's largest source of electricity is wind, which accounted for 27.2% of the country's electricity in 2023.
* Germany is ranked third in the world for renewable energy capacity, behind China and the U.S.
* Germany's Climate Law aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2045. To do this, Germany has set targets to increase the share of renewable energy in its electricity supply to 80% by 2030 and 100% by 2035.
* Germany's Energy Efficiency Act aims to reduce energy consumption by 500 TWh by 2030.
When you talk about the party deliberately appealing to high earners and spurning people who work, you really need to point out, no matter what Schumer said, that it’s because they’re chasing donations, not votes.
David Griscom has a lot of interesting points and great ideas. Thank you for introducing him.
One small bit about nuclear power. I have no thoughts on energy solutions but I am old enough to remember both Three Mile Island and Chernobyl firsthand. I have nothing more to say about it.
Re: inflation which ceased to be an issue around two years ago. Lately I’ve been joking that the Harris campaign blew three billion dollars because of big bad Biden’s inflation. Whenever I say that, people get upset, which as far as I’m concerned makes it even funnier. What? Too soon?
I think it is both sad and frustrating that the majority of people in Washington seem to have paid little regard to their jobs of serving the needs of the people. If they had paid attention in history class or maybe read some basic political science textbooks they would have been aware that, when you disenfranchise a big enough block of citizens, extremism of one form or another will result. So now here we are on the verge of a full blown quasi fascist takeover of the US government, something which half the country didn’t want or ask for.
My relatives in Canada and the UK have told me many times they would never come here to live if their lives depended on it. Since the election one told me they were incredibly thankful they weren’t born here. Nice going America.
I think it would be incredible to see you do a weekly 10-minute video where you just dive into a topic and speak your mind. Hearing your perspective like that would be powerful.
I have experience grass roots organizing and receiving leadership awards since my youth. I was voted as a top Boy Scout leader in the nation as a kid, i was voted as a student senator in college. I started giving up on leadership as an adult as things became more difficult, but i know how to do it. I had plans to rent a historic mansion in Indianapolis when i lived there and offer free beer and scotch/whiskey to anyone who wanted to join my radical science club. I just never did it because i started becoming more antisocial as i became older. I started turning into a time traveling hermit. I really do love being alone with my own science and experimentation, i rarely enjoy going out to bars anymore. But if i were to give advice to socialist movements, i would just rent out a nice facility and offer free drinks. Eventually collect donations to pay for the drinks. The reason i was a successful leader is because of my creativity and ability to offer fresh ideas and solutions, and my ability to understand social connections and being "cool" are all about having fun. Building a social club with diverse age groups can be complicated, young people wont show up if there's too many old people, unless the old people are cool and willing to taste some scotch. My plan was to create fun presentations, where everybody drinks and other people have the ability to also give presentations, but there is a requirement that the presentations have to be fun, not completely serious. Ana, you should create a club in LA. Find a socialist coffee house to let you hold events or just rent a posh space and pay for it with donations. I might eventually do my idea.
Thanks for all of your work, Ana. I'm a conservative, but I really enjoy your stuff because it challenges me, and I trust it comes from an earnest position of wanting to look out for the people of this great country. Looking forward to seeing more!
Pleasure to have you with us, Luke! Thank you for your open-mindedness and support!

Another great conversation. Right on!

If you're unaligned then so am I.
Just a heads up the link to David’s show isn’t working.
I would be very curious to hear which "empirical studies" back the notion that "cheap labor" from immigration drives wages down.
Here is a Vox article addressing Sander's open borders comments:
