From Union Halls to Trump Rallies: The Democrats' Working-Class Exodus

Is the left learning the right lessons from Trump's big win?

Sen. Bernie Sanders didn’t mince words following Donald Trump’s electoral defeat of Kamala Harris, which was made possible by working-class voters who flocked to the former President over the Democratic nominee. Bernie wrote that:

“It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them.”

While voters get the sense that Democrats have deprioritized the economy and the financial frustrations of tens of millions of people, there are some on the left who never lost sight of these critical bread and butter issues. My guest this week is just one example.

David Griscom is the co-host of The Left Reckoning, a labor-oriented program that seeks to “cover & build a strong, popular, working-class rooted, no BS Socialist Left.” While I’m sure many of my subscribers don’t identify as socialists, I think it’s important to hear perspectives from people across the ideological spectrum and keep an open mind.

David is a wonderful, kind hearted person. I met him many years ago when he was one of the voices on “The Michael Brooks Show,” which was hosted by our late friend Michael. What I appreciate about David is his undeniable passion in making the lives of ordinary American workers better, while proudly representing his home state of Texas and all the unique cultural experiences the Lone Star state has to offer.

David is down to Earth, insanely smart and a compassionate American.

I hope you all enjoy the episode!
