My guest for this week’s episode of Unaligned is Dr. Kurt Gray, who has dedicated his life’s work to helping bridge divides through better understanding and dialogue.
In his book “Outraged” Gray argues that while the moral judgements of liberals and conservatives might be vastly different, their views and behavior actually stem from the same perceptions of threat and vulnerability to harm. Can knowledge of this core similarity help improve how we perceive and interact with political opponents?
While I understand that some might not even be ready to entertain the idea of having conversations with political opponents I still highly recommend listening to our conversation. And for paid subscribers, please share thoughts in the comments!
Dr. Gray is a Professor in Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he directs the Deepest Beliefs Lab and the Center for the Science of Moral Understanding.
